We planned on going to Colorado and seeing Jordan's grandparents and
also getting our stuff back from our storage unit...but that didn't
happen. Oh the Robinson luck. We got there and had a good time hanging
out, fishing and eating the Jordan's Nanny, grandpa, Bob & Marsha. I
did learn one thing fishing with the boys...fish have tongues. I did
not know that until Jordan was pulling the hook out of ones mouth and I
looked then he dropped it on my foot....and I screamed....like a little
girl. Skye did SOO good traveling until about 10 hours then she just
had it. She was so tired of sitting in the car, but I am not complaining
at all she is SUCH an amazing little girl. We were in Colorado from
June 8 - June 11. We got up in the morning and hooked up the trailer to
our car and started off. We couldn't even get above 40 mph just going on
a normal road... Then we had to pass through Wolf Creek Pass, here's
what Wikipedia says about it.
Wolf Creek Pass (el. 10,857 ft.) is a high
mountain pass on the
Continental Divide, in the
San Juan Mountains of
Colorado. It is the route through which
U.S. Highway 160 passes from the
San Luis Valley into southwest Colorado on its way to
New Mexico and
Arizona. The pass is notable as inspiration of a
C. W. McCall
song. The pass is significantly steep on either side (7 to 8% in most
places), and can be dangerous in winter. Well we were about half way
down and it wasn't going good. All of a sudden Jordan says the brakes
aren't working and me of course I don't believe and tell him shut up
don't mess around (I wonder why, he never messes around like that...)
Then I realized he was serious and I have never been that scared in my
whole life ever. We were coming up on a corner and there was a EXTREMELY
steep drop off to our right and just a mountain on our left. Some how,
by the grace of God, Jordan pulled emergency brake and we stopped and
pulled over. We called Jordan's grandparents and they came to meet us to
get the trailer. When they came to meet us they pulled over behind us
and their front brakes were smoking on their big truck. It is seriously
the craziest feeling know you could've died and just thinking about what
it would've been like. It really made me appreciate my life in a whole
new way. I am so thankful to just be alive and I am thankful for every
single minute I have with my family and the people I care about. It was
so nice for Jordan to see his family and for them to get to spend time
with Skye. I really enjoyed fishing with my sweet husband and his
family. Here's some pictures from our trip.
